Arctic Monkeys is a British rock band formed in 2002 in the suburbs of the city of Sheffield , England.The band is generally considered part of the indie scene rock1 well as contemporary bands The Libertines , The Futureheads and Franz Ferdinand

HISTORY OF THE BAND

SAfter winning their guitars for Christmas 2001 , neighbors Alex Turner and Jamie Cook assembled a band with his school friends, Andy Nicholson , who played bass , and Matt Helders , who became the drummer. Under the name " Bang Bang " , they played covers of bands like Led Zeppelin and sang with Sheffield accent. After Alex take the lead vocals and the task of writing songs ( he actually had some ) , they changed the band name to " Arctic Monkeys ", taken from a group of which the father of drummer Matt Helders took part in the 70's . according to Turner , the name was passed from generation to generation , like a recipe
